How to get more energy when working from home? #Tipoftheweek Episode 22

Updated: Feb 5, 2023

I've been giving a lot of tips throughout the past 2 weeks on being more productive and having more energy when you are working from home. The fact is that a lot of us have experienced this drastic change and at one point (during lockdown) or another we were forced to change how we work. And even if you're back at the office, most likely you are still on a "hybrid" work schedule, which I think it's a trend that came to stay.

I get a lot of comments from people I know, saying how they have a love/hate relationship with working from home - they love the flexibility, plus spending more time with their children, pets and all the loved ones but at the same time, they feel they work more hours and end up mixing work with their personal lives. Trust me - I've been there myself. And even if you live by the mantra: "if you love what you do, you won't have to work another day" we all know that work isn't "perfect" all the time, and we do need a functional break!

If you're not careful, you're going to end up with a cluttered schedule and confusing your mind, that will not be able to relax. Meaning you're going to stress up your life and feel drained. And because my goal is for you to have more positive energy and be productive, while achieving a working/personal life balance, this Tip of the Week is for you!

Here I was working from my dining table... not a desk! I don't do that anymore...

When you watch this episode you can see that my energy was different because I was standing up (hint hint - get a standing desk) and amongst other things I talk about:

- Having a schedule, and marking all the activities, including your personal ones

- Having a set time to end work with reminders that you're getting close to finishing work

- Making sure you take breaks and keep yourself hydrated

- Wake up at the same time you used to go to work, and make that time that you used to be commuting count for a self-care activity (meditation, exercising, or journaling)

- Have a designated desk area - find ways to separate it, so that you know that is where you work.
